perks of a stylist " Fairy Dust & Magic"

                                                 Do you believe in magic???

I do,  & pretty much have always been a dreamer .    For as long as I can remember  I was told bed time stories and  from my  Aunt Arlene,   she would describe magical places, with wardrobe spun from fairy tales.  I  would later in life find my way along a  path sprinkled with fairy dust and glitter that would lead me to  the job I love so much.
Coming from a world where hard work was part of my every day tasks, I always knew there was something else  out there for me to conquer and achieve.   Lots of wishes on rainbows and pennies  I believed in  my dreams & they especially  came true the day I met Zoe Berkovic.
The admiration and love she puts into her lens is  expressed in every piece of art work she creates.   Then  add in the magic of east coast starz models  and it unfolds before our very eyes.

drop by drop, job by job my  career was flourishing, I was screaming inside that I have arrived!   author, Stacie Fitz

" if you add a little to a little , then do it again, that little shall be much "    author, Hesiodand I did just that, I sprinkled a little magic fairy dust ( saved from my aunts stories) and with the help  of many talented genius , and we get to make  little girls  dreams come true!!

Building friendships along the way, that will be in style way longer then the couture.

Lets just be honest the shots are hard work and lots of planning.  That  morning was tough as we muddled threw the make up and glitter just praying for a cup of JOE.
No stranger to super models we added the talented Chris Lanston to our entourage as he too was in need of a cup or two of what laid ahead of a  day full  of princesses, divas  and tulle.

This high end couture editorial would be featured in Thomas and Theresa magazine and an opportunity for our starz girls that would put them one step closer in their journey to
 their very own fairy tales.

If you hold tight and embrace what you believe in, I promise
one day......  your wish will come true.

I never doubted or questioned  my Aunt and her magical stories, I always held tight to them in my heart, I knew there was a reason after all these years they were vivid.
There were tough times where I wanted to think that ginger bread house's really did not exist, but I never gave up hope. I  found out  a house filled with children and laughter was that exact ginger bread house she told in her stories.    A house is a house until you fill it with love , then that house becomes a  " ginger bread" home.  Make stories that will be passed on for century's  and fill your hearts of  magic and inspiration.
I  hope all  our children have such stories that  I held close to all these years.
Hope  is really all we have in this world, and to re- tell the stories in any way we can.
color them, paint them, style them,  photograph them, but just never stop telling them.....

never forget the innocence of childhood and embrace it.

Don't think about it for too long

 JUST  JUMP IN!

March to your own beat and dance like no one is watching '

and one day the world will DEFINITELY  dance back

May you embrace the people in your life that come in to make you believe .....

From fashion ave to a small town in Conn.. fashion happens here ->

Being a NY child stylist brings me  many smiles and lots of miles on the  " model mobile'.
Last week my adventures took me to a small town in Connecticut  to a old Victorian  Mansion that was definitely " filled with spirits".    I Loved the vibe as I entered this  Eire but magical house, The Chetstone. It was  filled with stories waiting to be told and we were there to tell the story.
I would be styling lots of great kids and working with an amazing creative team  photographer Laurie Tomaszek of  Photogenic Images   along with  the talented  hair and  make up artist Liz Manley
The  preparation that goes into one of our styled shoots takes days, and the wardrobe is  hand picked  and  flown in from all over the world.  I love to see my creative ideas come to life , Like Michelangelo  I become an  artist creating one  master piece at a time, seeing the canvas come to life & this to me is a dream come true ( especially since I cant paint ).

( Jaidalyn is wearing KidCuture)

Being a stylist to me  means  making magic out of fashion  and  some how putting the pieces to each little puzzle together as  the creation unfolds.   Showcasing each child with who they are and what they love , as it all comes  to life  through  the lens.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, COUTURE......... LET THE FASHION BEGIN!

( Alexandra is wearing Les Tout Petites)
The house was filled with so many magical nooks and cranny's, creepy stair cases  and an attic that was filled with magic:  which  inspired me  for our editorial group shot

TUTU'S IN THE ATTIC

( Kendal, Olivia and Sophia are wearing Tutu DuMonde)

Today's models were  perfect as I imagined what little girls dressed up and danced around this magical Attic did back in the day.   You could smell the vintage clothes left in trunks, with trinket's and treasures left from children through  years past.  The walls were that of a story book with rabbits hand painted in a mystical way.
It was a stylist dream and then to add such gorgeous children,  a creative genius Laurie ' T"  to photograph with a splash of make up from Miss Liz , our story unfolded from the walls of the Chetstone to the pages of each child's own personal  fairy tale.........

                                                (Regan wearing Love Baby J)

Styling is creating and making dreams come true with the images that are captured.

Kendal , Alex and Caleb look great in their stylish  looks

Over 20 amazing model, lots and lots of couture and the results are something that will be treasured by the children and their parents for years to come.

I love being with all  the kids and I really enjoyed  working with Laurie and Liz, after working hard for two days  we decided we would choose and award a  " super model " shot of the day .  This would be factored in by the over all appeal of the " Look" of the day by  the style, the shot, the way the child performed and the mom's over all cooperation for the day.    Lets me just say that it was a tough  decision  for  the team
 " Styled Con Etiquette"
 to make ,  they are all super models in our  eyes and they are all stars;
The winner will get a free styled shoot at out next themed location and a chance to appear in our editorial group shot.

HELLO from New York Model Mom

Here goes my first blog......" drum roll".... please   For me this is a dream come true being  able to put my adventures in writing and let the world know exactly what it entails to be a model mom of 3 in NYC. This is what Model Life is about, and I am honored to be blogging for this amazing editorial, Model Life Magazine.
I am a NY model mom turned self proclaimed Child stylist.  As you follow me in my journey to stardom you will need to know the stars:
Michael age 11
Tristen age 9
and Paige age 8

And of course my son Johnnie who started the madness many moons ago is turning 24 ( & single ) :-)
I love my Job, and I love the NY industry with over 20 year experience and many success stories along the way  I have a lot to say!!
I have been on thousand's of go-see's , auditions , jobs and every snap of the camera, or walk down the runway I am making dreams come true  for not only my kids but anyone who asks.

I think my all time favorite story is that of a little girl Andora,  I was in LA. at a pageant ( yep I'm a pageant mom too) when i turned around and saw this little beauty on a tour bus of Hollywood ( ironic right) .  I said to my friend , who is that . ....her mom replied to me " that's my kid Andora:.  I said wow she is pretty, where do you live??? Her dad chimes in like " ok lady what are you trying to sell us" ' UMMM Pennsylvania" .  I said " well today is your lucky day"  they looked puzzled and definitely skeptical     I said I am a NY model scout and I think your daughter could be a  model, hmm the dad says.  Lets see what this lady has to offer , I told him I was the real deal, he still seemed cautious  but they followed up with me and I'm pretty sure they believe me now;-)  1 month later Andora was  one of NY's top 10 year old print models and recently booked a national GNC commercial!!  We are not only with the same agency but are great friends and someone I consider part of my modeling family.   I believe in helping kids achieve their dreams & have helped many along the way.  The great white way that is, stay tuned for more stories and follow our journey from the streets of NY to magazines, TV and maybe one day the big screan.

Shoot for the moon, & even if you miss you'll land among the stars......( author unknown)
